Can Math be instrumental in how we think about life?
This gathering will be held in honor of Irina Hmelnitsky, our beloved community member, who recently left us in her body but is with us in her courage and spirit. We will be talking about thinking, reason, what reason is, what reason is not, and what Mathematicians have to say about personal growth. We will center our discussion around what mathematicians are interested in deep in their hearts and whether it is possible to transfer mathematical quests into other domains of human functioning.
From Psychotherapy to Bodywork and back
We will experiment with Rosen bodywork method to further deepen the understanding between the receiver and the giver. Anyone who wants to learn more about this truly magical approach to healing is welcome to attend.
Passover in the Desert

It would be a heartwarming surprise if you could make it.
We will arrive on Friday afternoon and will immediately start laying the foundation for the Temple. As always, Saturday and Sunday will be devoted to the more familiar part of the Coming Out. In the days that follow, we will be helping ourselves and each other to go qedma.
In-person college level Virology course free for Berkeley High students, grades 10-12.
A group of 6-8 high schoolers will gather to watch lectures on Virology by Prof. Vincent Racaniello from Columbia University. The facilitator for this class has a masters degree in the Physiology of the Cell, and has experience of experimental work in various branches of Biology. She will introduce the students to the fundamentals of self learning and help them organize their work. Due to the experimental nature of the class it will be considered an internship. Participants will be able to receive recommendation letters based on their contributions to the class. The class will meet in the Wells Fargo building on Shattuck Ave, a 5 minute walk from Berkeley High School. The event is free and is made possible through contributions of our donors and volunteers.

Mindful Relating and Tea
We will come together for 1 hour (or as much as we need) to drink tea and explore our own personal landscape through relating to one another. We will play with an experimental structure, meant to reduce the amount of non-chosen, automatic communication strategies we all use when we don’t know how to connect. We will do the work in pairs or triplets. Each pair group will be developing its own algorithm of connection, to maximize the communicational potential of an interaction. There will be an opportunity to choose your own way of being — ask each other questions, sit together in silence, learn an origami piece, compose a poem, dance or pass. We will learn to be respectful of our own boundaries, pay attention to our breath and posture, be curious, get silly or clever depending on circumstances, get silly always, etc. etc. This is an experiment, so come and explore on your own!
