Mindful Relating and Tea

  • Cal meadow across from Berkeley Pacific Film Archives 37.871447, -122.265508 (map)

We will come together for 1 hour (or as much as we need) to drink tea and explore our own personal landscape through relating to one another. We will play with an experimental structure, meant to reduce the amount of non-chosen, automatic communication strategies we all use when we don’t know how to connect. We will do the work in pairs or triplets. Each pair group will be developing its own algorithm of connection, to maximize the communicational potential of an interaction. There will be an opportunity to choose your own way of being — ask each other questions, sit together in silence, learn an origami piece, compose a poem, dance or pass. We will learn to be respectful of our own boundaries, pay attention to our breath and posture, be curious, get silly or clever depending on circumstances, get silly always, etc. etc. This is an experiment, so come and explore on your own!
